Iran Thrashes Egypt In Sitting Volleyball Semi
ATHENS, Greece, Sept. 27--The four-time Paralympics champion Iran humbled Egypt 3-0 in the sitting volleyball semifinal here on Sunday, IRNA said.
Supported by fans including the world's strongest man, Hossein Rezazadeh, Iran won 25-18 25-19 25-22.
Bosnia defeated Germany in another semifinal match later on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Iran's wheelchair-bound basketball team finished ninth at the 12th Paralympics Games here Sunday.
Iran, which made its debut in the Games beat the Brazilian side 67-63 on the court of Olympic Sports Complex.
The Iranian team fell behind 15-13 in the first quarter but it fought back to outpoint Brazil 44-34 and 52-37 in the second and third quarters respectively.

National Sepaktakraw Team Trounce Pakistan
TEHRAN, Sept. 27--Iran took the first step firmly with a 2-0 win over Pakistan in the 18th world sepaktakraw meet in Penang, 320 km north of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, Monday, IRNA said.
Iran, the sole representative of West Asia in the world meet, tamed the Pakistani team 21-12 21-15. Twenty teams are competing in the tournament.
This is the first time Iran has participated in this event overseas.
Sepaktakraw is like playing volleyball on a badminton court without using hands and arms.
It is a sport where athletes contort their bodies like acrobats and even attempt back flips to spike a small ball with their foot, head or chest into the opponents' court at speeds reaching 140 km per hour. At the same time, the opponent will be soaring through the air to rise above the net and block the spike. The game proceeds at a mind-numbing pace, with the ball sometimes soaring high into the air.

MILAN, Italy,
Sept. 27--Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko scored twice as Italian champions AC Milan came from behind with 10 men to beat Lazio 2-1 in Serie A on Sunday, Reuters said.
Milan's victory at the Olympic Stadium moved them up to fourth place, three points behind early leaders Juventus.
Lecce and Messina share second place on eight points behind Juve, who have 10 points from the opening four games following a 1-1 home draw with Palermo on Saturday.
Inter Milan's sluggish start to the season continued as they needed two goals from substitute Obafemi Martins to secure a 2-2 home draw with Parma on Sunday.
Milan, smarting from their shock home defeat by Messina in midweek, fell behind to a Fernando Couto header in the 37th minute.
The Milan defense left the Portuguese defender unmarked at the back post and Couto confidently headed home an Antonio Filippini cross.
The task for Carlo Ancelotti's men became tougher when eight minutes after the break midfielder Massimo Ambrosini was sent off after an elbow on Filippini.
But two goals inside four minutes from Shevchenko turned the game around.
From a 70th-minute corner Shevchenko showed great agility to turn and hook the ball past Angelo Peruzzi and four minutes later he beat two Lazio defenders before driving in a shot from a narrow angle.

Spain, US Reach Davis Cup Final
LONDON, Sept. 27--Spain set up a Davis Cup final against the United States after Rafael Nadal used his youthful exuberance to charge past France's Arnaud Clement on Sunday, Reuters said.
The teenager, drafted in to replace a below par Carlos Moya, skipped, jumped and punched the air after taking all the big points in a 6-4 6-1 6-2 victory, giving Spain an unbeatable 3-1 lead and a place in the final for the third time in five years.
The 2000 champions, runners-up to Australia last year, will have the advantage of choosing a clay surface when they host the Americans from 3-5 December.
The US, champions a record 31 times, beat Belarus 4-0 in the other semifinal to reach their first final since 1997. The fifth and final rubber in Charleston, South Carolina between
Mardy Fish and Andrei Karatchenia was abandoned due to rain.
"When I saw the draw early on, and I saw what the potential was, I was excited about going to Spain for the final," US captain Patrick McEnroe said after his team took an unassailable 3-0 lead.
"It would be a tremendous challenge and a tremendous opportunity to do something amazing.
"We know they have a great team, and so do we. I think our guys will really get up for it."

Valencia, Barcelona Unbeaten
MADRID, Spain,
Sept. 27--Valencia and Barcelona maintained their unbeaten records this season, and remain neck-and-neck at the top of the Spanish first division, after convincing wins on Sunday, AFP said.
Goals from Vicente Rodriguez and Stefano Fiore gave Valencia a 2-0 win over Racing Santander.
That was enough for the reigning Spanish champions to retain their lead, having scored more goals than Barcelona who beat Real Mallorca 3-1.
Barcelona cruised past Real Mallorca 3-1, with two strikes late in the first half from African Player of the Year Samuel Eto'o adding to an earlier effort from fellow summer arrival Henrik Larsson.
But a late goal 13 minutes from time by Mallorca's Andrija Delibasic meant Barca stay in second. Both Valencia and Barcelona have 13 points from their five games.
Espanyol kept up their strong start to the season with a 1-0 win over Malaga, Ivan De La Pena cementing his bid for a Spanish international call-up with the only goal of the game after 49 minutes.
Osasuna and Real Zaragoza also stayed in the upper reaches of the table with hard fought home wins, Osasuna grinding out a 2-1 victory over newly-promoted Getafe while Zaragoza came out on top 4-3 in a topsy-turvy encounter with last season's second division champions Levante.

FARMINGTON, USA, Sept. 27--Vijay Singh continued his extraordinary run with victory in the Pennsylvania Classic on Sunday, completing his fifth PGA win in six starts and breaking Tiger Woods' single-season earnings record, Reuters reported.
The world number one shot a final-round 69 to win by one stroke from American Stewart Cink and seal his eighth title of 2004.
Singh, who knocked Woods off the top of the world rankings this month for the first time in over five years, took his prize money for the season to $9,455,566, breaking the record Woods set in 2000.
The Fijian also won the US PGA Championship last month, his third major title.
Pat Perez, Zach Johnson, Chris DiMarco and Jonathan Byrd tied for third place in Pennsylvania.

MADRID, Spain,
Sept. 27--Spanish rider Roberto Heras of the Liberty team won the Tour of Spain here on Sunday for the third time in his career and obliterated memories of his final day loss in the race two years ago, AFP said.
His compatriot Santi Perez won the last stage, a 28.2 kilometer time-trial round Madrid, but Heras only lost 13 seconds to him like in 2002 where he lost out eventually to Aitor Gonzalez because of his poor time-trial.
"After my 2002 defeat I was a little apprehensive at the start," said Heras afterwards. "But this time I even managed to enjoy the ride during the final eight kilometers when I realized that I had won."
Heras joins Switzerland's Tony Rominger as the only other rider to have won three Tours of Spain, having collected the 2000 and 2003 editions.
Heras effectively won the race on the 12th stage where his superior climbing skills saw him take the overall lead.
