Gov’t Determined
To Control Prices

Ali Akbar Javanfekr
TEHRAN, Jan. 12--The government is determined to control the unbridled hike in the prices of commodities, an official said on Friday.
Ali Akbar Javanfekr, presidential advisor for press affairs, also told ISNA, “Our people believe in the government approach for cutting prices because they witness that it has not increased the price of gasoline as a commodity which heavily affects the price of other goods and services.“
Referring to the recent psychological war and politically-motivated measures of opponents against the government, he admitted that prices have moved up ’irrationally’ in some sectors despite the government policies to cut prices.
“While thousands of messages have been recently sent to people via Short Message System about the probable hike in the price of some items, we should not ignore the role of illegitimate wealth accumulators in the price rise,“ he said.
Javanfekr added that the government has decreased the prices of goods such as mobile phones which were under its own control.
He denied that the government has been unable to control the state economy, reiterating economic stabilization as the main policy of the government.
“The government will continue its fundamental measures to stabilize economy. Rehabilitating the agriculture will not only strengthen our position but would also result in many social implications such as preventing migrations,“ he said.
Javanfekr noted that the government expects other branches to cooperate in fighting the economically corrupt which is one of the major state policies.

American Plots Aim
To Limit Iranian Progress
TEHRAN, Jan. 12--An official said on Friday all US plots and policies have reached an impasse.
Speaking before the Friday prayers sermon, Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, deputy interior minister for security affairs, added that the anti-Iran resolution (recently issued by the UN Security Council against the country’s nuclear activities) and the US efforts aim to limit the Iranians’ progress, IRNA reported.
Addressing the US, Zolqadr said, “Dream on.“
He further said the Iranian government enjoys strong public support and that this government and people will not surrender.
“Iran has a strong and effective government and powerful armed forces,“ he said, warning that the language of force has no impact on the Iranian government.
Zolqadr added that Iran is steered by a firm, brave and popular leader who is well aware of the enemies’ plots.
Recalling the recent remarks of US President George Bush on Iraq, the security deputy concluded that Washington has admitted its failure in Iraq.
Bush on Wednesday ordered more than 20,000 more troops into Iraq, as he admitted to mistakes there.
“I have committed more than 20,000 additional American troops to Iraq,“ Bush said in the address live from the White House on a war which has killed more than 3,000 US troops so far.

Jannati: US, UK Supporting Terrorists
In Iraq
TEHRAN, Jan. 12--Tehran’s substitute Friday prayers leader said the US and the UK are supporting terrorists in Iraq.
Speaking in the second sermon of the Friday prayers, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati added that the United States of America’s policies have failed.
According to IRNA, Jannati referred to the September 11 event a “Puppet show planned by Americans themselves“.
“The Americans used such a pretext to give slogans about fighting terrorism and promoting democracy, and against the Islamic countries. However, in reality, they have failed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and Lebanon, and their slogans have lost their effectiveness,“ he said.
“When they recognized that their policies in Iraq were inefficient, the US and UK changed their policies and are now trying to make people fight against each other by calling it “a new policy“.
The substitute Friday prayers leader called the spread of discord among Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq and the world as a weapon of the US and UK and stressed that “such weapons must be taken out of their hands“.
He further said the Shiites want unity among Muslims, clarifying that “We are not against Sunnis and the late Imam Khomeini called for unity among Shiites and Sunnis“.
The ayatollah warned heads of some Muslim states as well as some Islamic scholars not to fall into the trap set by the US and UK to spread disunity among Shiites and Sunnis.
Jannati also called the American forces’ attack on Iran’s Consulate in Arbil, Iraq, and arrest of a number of Iranian employees there as a “foolish step“, and condemned it.
“Such an action indicates violence, insurgency and being an outlaw,“ he said.

Expansion of Latam Ties Underlined
MADRID, Spain,
Jan. 12--Nicaragua’s newly-appointed Foreign Minister Samuel Santos said his country is keen on deep cooperation and strong ties with Iran.
Talking to Saeed Jalili, deputy foreign minister for European and American affairs, who participated in the oath-taking ceremony of President Daniel Ortega on Thursday, Santos pointed to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s scheduled visit to Nicaragua on Sunday as an important event that would greatly impact bilateral relations, IRNA reported.
“To the great dissatisfaction of American officials, we are looking forward to expanding our relations with Iran,“ said Santos, adding that the increasing victories of leftists in South America is a major step toward fighting global imperialism.
Nicaraguan Energy Minister Emilio Rapapaxioli welcomed cooperation with Iran as well, specifically in the fields of oil exploration and hydroelectricity.
Jalili said Iran is looking into trilateral relations with Venezuela and Nicaragua, and expressed his satisfaction with Ortega’s victory in the recent presidential elections.
Meeting with his Mexican counterpart on the sidelines of the oath-taking ceremony, Jalili pointed to Iran’s status in the Middle East and Mexico in Central America, and stressed on the importance of their bilateral relations.
“Differences of opinions should not cause restrictions in international relations,“ Jalili said, “Disagreements should be settled through discussions and dialogues.“
Both parties stressed on mutual efforts to improve cooperation and exchange of views.

UN Injustices Historical
LONDON, Jan. 12--The recent injustice of UN Security Council Resolution 1737 aimed to prevent Iran of its legitimate right to develop a civil nuclear program is “nothing new“, the Iranian Embassy in London said Friday.
The country has had to overcome many injustices during the past six decades, including the 1953 military coup organized by the US and UK, two permanent Security Council members, after Iran nationalized its oil industry, IRNA reported.
In a letter to the Financial Times, it recalled that the UN “failed even to call for Saddam Hussein’s forces to withdraw from Iranian territory“ following Iraq’s invasion in 1980.
“The architects of the recent Security Council resolution turned a blind eye to the extensive use of chemical weapons against Iranian civilians and soldiers. Tens of thousands of Iranians continue to suffer and perish as a result,“ the letter said.
The embassy warned that the decision to subject Iran’s peaceful nuclear program to Security Council measures “will not encourage negotiations or provide any kind of a solution“.
“It is not intended to. Instead, it will only set a most unwelcome precedent: to deny countries their basic rights to use technology to provide clean sources of energy,“ it said.
The letter referred to the hypocrisy of Iran being singled out when unlike other countries in the region, it was a “signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and as such has an inalienable right to the lawful use of nuclear energy“.
“Yet, it is facing an unprecedented hue and cry over its nuclear program, while Israel, a wholly non-accountable nuclear power, has the full support of the US administration,“ it said.
But the embassy believed that with Iran consistently calling for unconditional negotiations that would proceed for a limited period of time, “diplomacy has not been completely put to the test“.

Official Confers With Russian Deputy FM
MOSCOW, Jan. 12--Iran and Russia discussed on Friday the military and political developments in the Middle East and North Africa, IRNA quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as reporting.
Foreign Ministry’s director general for Middle East and North African affairs, Ali Asghar Mohammadi-Sijani, met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov in Russia where they discussed regional and bilateral issues, including the settlement of crises in Iraq, Palestine and Israel as well as issues pertaining to Lebanon and Syria.
The two sides also reviewed commitments concerning the multi-polar world systems, Dialogue Among Civilizations, and international rules for settling global crises and resolving complex issues through diplomacy.
They also underlined that other countries should play a role in ensuring peace and security in the Middle East.
Saltanov elucidated on Russia’s stance toward international and regional efforts to resume talks between Arabs and the Israelis, establish sustainable peace between Israel and neighboring states, and prevent more hot centers in the Middle East.

Mideast Alliance
SIASAT-E ROUZ: The West, which always considered an alliance of Middle East countries as a threat to its expansionist policies, is trying to sow the seeds of discord between Iran and other regional countries. The West’s efforts are continuing, despite the fact that the Middle Eastern countries have emphasized on remaining united. The regional countries have decided to distance themselves from the West and form an alliance. Hence, the West is confronting such an alliance by supporting the Zionist regime of Israel. In fact, the West is encouraging the Zionist regime to establish ties with some Arab states by claiming that Israel has many things in common with those countries. This is why the Zionist regime is pretending that it has reached an agreement with the Arab countries against Iran. The main objectives pursued by the West are maintaining oil transit to Europe via Persian Gulf, sowing the seeds of discord between Sunnis and Shiites, as well as preventing Iran from gaining access to peaceful nuclear technology. The bottom line is that the West sees itself as powerless in preserving its presence in the Middle East and is doing its best to create differences between Iran and Arab states to maintain its status in the region. What is noteworthy is the fact that the western media are playing the most important role in creating differences between Shiite and Sunni Muslims. In fact, the US and its allies have launched a psychological campaign against the alliance in the Middle East.

Please Explain!
AFTAB-E YAZD: One of the main slogans of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during his election campaign and thereafter has been combating profiteering, the oil mafia and those who encroach upon the public treasury. The just distribution of national resources and services among the people also forms the main platform of the government. But very rarely has the president spoken against profiteering without an implied or direct reference to past administrations. Thus far, his speeches have referred to the past and created the impression that the president is resolved to return money to the treasury from those who have grabbed it. However, the president’s last speech had a fundamental difference with his past statements. In this speech, the president claimed that those who exploited the public treasury or illegally accumulated wealth are the cause of the recent economic pressures on the people. At present, the people expect their president to identify the corrupt elements in society with determination and transparency. Of course, priority rests with identifying those who have used their illegally accumulated wealth and injected that wealth into the economy, thus adding to the people’s sufferings. Under the circumstances, security organizations have a special duty. The president’s recent statements demonstrate that those who disrupt the economic equilibrium pursue a greater goal, namely that of making the people abandon their ideals which, of course, they would never abandon. The president must explain the economic and political root-causes of the recent price increases so that others do not resort to simplified explanations such as exports causing an increase in the prices of eggs, potatoes, meat, etc.

Fuel Diplomacy
MARDOMSALARI: Persian Gulf has 66 percent of the world’s total oil reserves and 35 percent of the total gas reserves. Therefore, it is considered one of the most strategic regions of the world. Since it is at the crossroads of transit of Turkmenistan’s gas to other parts of the world, it makes it a more strategic region. Since Turkmenistan’s gas has to pass through Iran before reaching Persian Gulf, the West prefers the unsafe route of Afghanistan and then Pakistan over Iran. This is due to the fact that the West knows that if it relies on Iran’s route, anything that harms Iran’s security will also threaten the security of the gas line. Iran is a Persian Gulf littoral state that has the longest water border with the Persian Gulf. Iran can play a more significant role in establishing the Euro-Asia gas transit route due to its strategic location. Adopting feasible fuel diplomacy can help Iran gain access to indigenous nuclear technology that is a prerequisite for broad-based development. Unfortunately, the US is creating a great deal of problems for Iran and prevents the latter from achieving its fuel diplomacy objectives. Iranians need consensus today more than at any time before to nullify the threats posed by the US and its allies. Furthermore, the need of Asian countries such as India and China for natural gas has increased and can be a good pretext for adopting more practical fuel policies. Since India and Pakistan both have high energy needs and if they were to resolve their differences over the proposed gas pipeline from Iran to India via Pakistan, Iran’s energy supply can help them achieve understanding and stability.

Subject: Who is to be blamed? Date: Sunday, January 07, 2007 6:44 PM
Real democracy is based on respect for human dignity and self-determination, and can only be accomplished by the will of the people, not by brute force.
Lobbyists pushing Israeli projects encourage elected officials, policymakers and public opinion leaders to visit sites in occupied Palestinian territories to forge stronger bonds with Israel. These visits help forge an unforgettable bond with Israel and set the stage for losing the war in Iraq.
All Arab nations recognize the connection of the United States, AIPAC and Israel. The blind support for the Middle East No. 1 enemy Israel set the stage for a failure, no matter how many troops you send to Iraq.
Yes, the Iraqis wanted a democracy free of Saddam, but not replaced with a government handpicked by the United States, Israel and AIPAC for the interest of Israel and control of Iraqi resources.
67 resolutions against Israel, all attempts to control the aggression and land grabs are vetoed by the USA.
Israel has violated international laws, continues to do so and our officials will make no comment on the true causes of the problems in the Middle East. Not one will meet the press, or face the nation with the absolute truth of policy and aid. No Middle East country has been dealt with fairly by the USA.
Prioritizing Israeli interest is the cause for complete failure.
Who is to be blamed: our administration, Senate, and Congress? All need to be replaced. There is no winning until we face the facts of the corruption & crimes of Israeli organized crime, and the connection with our officials.
The powers of “Jewish supremacism“, the oligarchs and the Zionists want total supremacy over our nation. Their puppet George Bush, just as in the Iraq war, is happy to serve these masters on the American political landscape. It is not just leaders of AIPAC that are being investigated for spying. George Bush has surrendered his presidency completely to this foreign power and shames every real American who has pride in our country.
The biggest roadblock to the “New World Order“ and a sublimation of America and Europe to Jewish-supremacist globalism is Vladimir Putin.
The truth is that Putin in attempting to defend Russia from the power of Jewish supremacists is, in effect, defending all Americans, and all people everywhere who cherish their freedom and heritage. He is Russian rather than American, but his heritage is far closer to the American people and our interests than the Jewish supremacist misanthropists.
We call upon all of the American taxpayers to raise our voices on our airwaves and in the media and to support Jimmy Carter and other politicians who dare to speak out against this oppressive Israeli regime.
I also call on US lawmakers to stop signing on the bottom line for Israel. In every way possible, let’s hold Israel accountable by eliminating funding for Israel’s war against Palestine. These funds can be put to better use for building and helping people in places like Africa instead of committing them to the crushing destruction brought down upon the poor Palestinian people by Israel.
Anyone denying Israel’s 58 years of terror in the Middle East and their connection to all Middle East problems have their heads in the sand or are getting their pockets lined through graft and corruption.
