Car Manufacturing Robot Designed
TEHRAN, May 26--Iranian researchers have designed and manufactured a robot for rotating car cylinder engines in two directions.
Director of the robot project, Mohsen Moradi, said that this robot can be used in several industries, particularly auto industries, IRIB reported.
“The bi-directional rotating robot for car cylinder engines has been designed and produced in the world for the first time,“ he said.
Moradi, also a faculty member of University Jihad, noted that the robot was designed by the Mechanical Engineering Research Department affiliated to University Jihad’s Technology Development Research Center.
He pointed out that the robot can be used in the production line of Iran Khodro for concurrently rotating car cylinders in two directions at angles of 90 and 180 degrees in minimum space and at very high speed before entering other stages of car engine production.
“The robot has a very high security coefficient and can be controlled in both manual and automatic states,“ he said.
Moradi further said that the robot was designed and produced in six months to meet one of the basic needs of Iran Khodro Car Manufacturing Company’s production line.
“Given the experience and technical know-how of University Jihad’s Technology Development Research Center, we can design similar robots for other institutions in a short period of time,“ he said.

Call for Propagating
Imam’s Aspirations
Thoughts Welcomed
By Muslim Communities
|
|
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
|
TEHRAN, May 26--Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Saturday the late Imam Khomeini’s aspirations brought dignity, prestige and self-esteem to the nation.
Addressing the officials in charge of organizing ceremonies to mark the 18th anniversary of the late Imam Khomeini’s demise, the leader said, “Anyone whose heart beats for the lofty values of the Islamic Revolution and seeks dignity and progress of the country and the great nation should follow the late Imam Khomeini’s path.“
Ayatollah Khamenei also said the late Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution, taught great lessons to the country’s officials and all political groups, IRNA reported.
“The late Imam Khomeini had a wonderful and eternal impact on Muslim nations,“ he said.
He stressed that the Imam’s aspirations were in line with the teachings of Islam and that’s why his thoughts were welcomed by the Muslim communities across the globe.
“Imam Khomeini called for a return to our Islamic and religious identity, renouncing the bullying powers and the Zionists. The enthusiasm for Imam Khomeini’s lessons among the youth is very surprising,“ he said.
“The enemies’ continued propaganda campaign against the late Imam Khomeini is, unfortunately, several times more than the propagation of the late Imam’s aspirations.“
Lauding the efforts of officials in charge of organizing the anniversary ceremonies, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the principles and goals of the Islamic Revolution, which are consistent with religious democracy and human rights, should be clarified to avoid deviation from the late Imam’s teachings.

Solar Energy Use Increasing
TEHRAN, May 26--A total of 14,000 solar geysers have been installed in rural and urban houses along with 400 solar geysers in public baths of remote villages without piped water.
The installation of geysers is aimed at optimizing solar energy for its cost-effectiveness and saving on fuel consumption, IRNA reported.
This is in line with the Fourth Economic Development Plan (2005-10) projections for the past two years.
More than 10,000 solar water geysers have been installed in rural homes.
Other measures taken by the Iranian Fuel Conservation Company concerning solar geysers can be enumerated as supporting establishment of at least four production lines for solar water geysers on the basis of the latest state-of-the-art technology, holding tenders for designing and equipping the solar test laboratory for the first time in Iran and the Middle East, devising a databank on the degree of solar energy in different geographical zones for the first time, studying villages in terms of solar radiation and potentials for installation of solar baths.
Solar energy is increasingly used across the world for heating water, warming residential and commercial spaces, heating swimming pools, providing energy for industrial processes and supplying fresh water.

Iraqi Ex-Premier:
US Talks With Militias Likely
|
|
Iyad Allawi
|
TEHRAN, May 26--Former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said on Saturday American officials will soon hold direct talks with commanders of armed militias in Iraq.
Speaking in an interview with the Arab-language satellite TV Al-Jazeera, Allawi said Baghdad will soon host American officials for talks with commanders of Iraqi armed groups on the critical situation of the country, the British daily Guardian reported. “In this meeting, Americans will talk with these groups to abandon their weapons,“ he said.
Christopher Garfer, a spokesman for American troops in Iraq, said talks with leaders of Shiite and Sunni armed groups are likely. He did not elaborate.
“The American forces welcomes talks with all armed groups willing to participate in the political process of Iraq and voluntarily abandon their weapons,“ he said.

Conditions for
Tehran-Washington Meeting
TEHRAN, May 26--Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced on Saturday conditions for following up Iran-US talks on Iraq security.
The first round of talks at the ambassadorial level will be held in Baghdad on May 28, IRNA reported.
Mottaki was responding to a question in a joint press conference with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama about following up Iran-US talks after May 28 when Iranian ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi-Qomi will meet his American counterpart Ryan Crocker.
“The two sides can be hopeful about following up negotiations if the US has a realistic view to Monday talks, admits its wrong policies in Iraq, decides to change them and respects its responsibilities,“ he said.
Mottaki reaffirmed the Iranian commitment to have successful talks with US to help the Iraqi government and nation.
Asked about the next round of talks between Iran’s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Mottaki said, “We received messages from certain members of the Group 5+1 (the five permanent states of the UN Security Council--China, Russia, France, Britain and the US--plus Germany) calling for Iran-EU negotiations.
“These messages encourage Solana to hold talks with Iran with a constructive view. We hope the new round of talks on the topic, which have been previously discussed, will result in resolution of the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program.“
Questioned about the US maneuver in Persian Gulf waters, the Iranian minister added, “The Persian Gulf witnessed various military maneuvers in the past several years. Sometimes, certain military maneuvers can be held in parallel with political goals and messages.“
Mottaki said that the US maneuver is like other maneuvers carried out in the region so far.
“But the important point is that the approach of regional states should focus on stability, tranquility and security of the region. Regional countries should make decision about security of the important region of the Persian Gulf through collective regional cooperation without the orders of big powers,“ he said.
Mottaki also said Iran has started a good approach on cooperation with regional states and has laid emphasis on collective economic cooperation with the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
“Economic cooperation would be a prelude to security cooperation in the region,“ he said.

British Daily Parrots
American Claims
TEHRAN, May 26--The British Guardian newspaper in a report claimed Iran is secretly forging ties with Al-Qaeda elements and Sunni Arab militias in Iraq to prepare for a summer showdown with American forces.
In his article, Simon Tisdall quotes an American official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, as saying Iran is behind many high-profile attacks meant to undermine US and British measures in Iraq.
“This is intended to tip the US Congress into voting for full military withdrawal,“ the report claims.
According to the Guardian, the America official says Iran is behind rocket attacks on the Basra palace and the Green Zone in Baghdad.
The unnamed official also said that US commanders are bracing for an Iranian-orchestrated offensive by linking insurgents to Tehran’s Shiite militia allies, in the hope of causing a political mutiny in Washington and a US retreat.
“It was expected that Al-Qaeda and Iran will attempt to increase the propaganda and violence before September, when the US commander General David Petraeus will report to Congress on President George Bush’s security ’surge’ of 30,000 troop reinforcements,“ it adds.
It seems that America and England are making new accusations against Iran amid their failures in Iraq and increasing international pressures to withdraw their troops.
Political experts believe the United States will not leave Iraq without achieving two goals: creating sectarian differences to divide Iraq and implicating Iran as a partner of all insurgencies. Americans are caught in a Catch-22 situation whereby they can neither continue their occupation nor exit in a victorious manner.

Spy Networks Dismantled
TEHRAN, May 26--Intelligence Ministry announced on Saturday several spy networks have been dismantled throughout Iran.
The ministry announced that ’stooges’ of the spy networks comprised infiltrators from foreign forces occupying Iraq and stationed in western, southwestern and central Iran, IRNA reported.
The networks carried out activities by receiving directives from intelligence services of the occupying troops in Iraq and some of Iraq’s influential political currents.
The Iranian ministry announced that it will release updates on the dismantlement of these spy networks in the coming days.

Regional Security Conference on May 28
TEHRAN, May 26--A senior official said Tehran’s 17th International Persian Gulf Conference themed “Persian Gulf Security in International Law“ will be held on May 28-29.
Deputy Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mohammadi also told Iran Daily on the sidelines of his news conference that 60 foreign guests from 40 countries will attend the event.
“The current conference has met with exceptional reception because Arab countries did not have a noticeable showing in the past 16 conferences,“ he said.
He added that 130 scientific articles have been submitted to the conference secretariat while only 100 were selected by the scientific board of the conference, of which 55 and 45 articles were sent by Iranian and foreign researchers respectively.
“Nine American political analysts have sent articles to the secretariat and they can attend the conference if they obtain the visa on time,“ he said.
The deputy foreign minister noted that the conference will focus on Persian Gulf security and expansion of political and economical cooperation among regional countries. He said Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria, France, Australia and England will have representatives in the conference.
Referring to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s recent visit to United Arab Emirates and Oman, Mohammadi said the reception accorded by these two neighboring countries indicates the success of the trip.
“The warm reception for President Ahmadinejad shows that regional states do not take the threats of western countries against Iran seriously,“ he said.

Allawi Again!
By Masoud Ebrahimi
At the recent Iraqi security conference in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh held apparently to bolster the government in Baghdad, the US learnt a few things. One was that incumbent Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki is best suited to run the war-battered country at the present juncture, more so because his government enjoys strong support from Tehran.
However, having come to this conclusion despite earlier reservations, some in the American ruling elite decided to retest the waters. In doing so, they again shifted focus on former Iraqi premier Iyad Allawi. To keep things on an even keel, Allawi was once again brought into the limelight and measures were taken to expose him to the international media.
The change in tactic, among other things, was aimed at paving the grounds for a successor to Maliki if and when necessary.
Allawi’s talk shows and highly publicized interviews, particularly his recent statements to Al-Jazeera satellite TV during which he said American officials and representatives of some Iraqi armed groups have met, are cases in point. Impartial observers opine that America’s new diplomatic push is another chapter in its dangerous terror campaign to portray the elected Maliki government as weak and ineffective.
The unhelpful move by the Americans is seen in some quarters as aimed at seeking further sway over the Iraqi security apparatus and continue the occupation of the Arab country well into the future.
The embattled US regime and its western allies are aware that they need all the possible tools and tricks to counter Iran’s increasing diplomatic clout in Iraq. Small wonder that Britain’s Guardian newspaper recently accused Tehran of getting close to Al-Qaeda and the Sunni insurgency to make way for a military attack on the US forces in summer.
Such baseless but hardly perplexing stunts can and will open a new negative chapter for the US in its already dark record with relation to Iraq’s deteriorating security ahead of upcoming Iran-US talks slated for early next week in Baghdad. Iran has always placed America’s destabilizing role in the Iraqi theater on the top of its agenda and monitored its programs at close range.
Officials in Tehran have little doubt that the illegal US invasion and occupation of the neighboring country has all the makings of controlling Iraq’s vast economic resources and inhibiting the progress of its majority Shiites.
The US designs are an issue that will unravel sooner or later. We should wait and see whether the Iranian negotiator with his high bargaining skills will tackle this key point when he meets his American counterpart on Monday. Answer to this question will also help determine Allawi’s fate for the Americans.
