Shahroudi: US Triggering Terrorism in Iraq
TEHRAN, July 9--Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi said US operations launched in Iraq under the name of war on terrorism are unjustified, as countries apparently fighting terrorists are actually the sources of terrorism.
Speaking in a meeting with high-ranking judicial officials on Monday, Ayatollah Shahroudi noted that enemies are seeking to change the incumbent government in Iraq, IRNA reported.
“Americans have failed to implement their vicious plans in Iraq, because its people and government will courageously foil any conspiracy,“ he said, adding that the current Iraqi government has been elected by the people through the voting process, which is a symbol of democracy.
He said the United States is opposed to real Islam, because they are seeking an American-style Islam.
Turning to the critical situation in Palestine, Shahroudi said American and Israeli puppets and their plots have been neutralized as Hamas is dominating Gaza Strip.
Shahroudi noted that American warmongers are indifferent toward establishment of peace and democracy in the Middle East.

Cinema Conditions Criticized
|
|
Most Iranian cinemas are in poor conditions as they were built 30 years ago.
|
TEHRAN, July 9--Majlis Research Center has underlined the necessity of revising cinema rules and making them compatible with the society’s current needs.
The center’s Cultural Department released a report on Monday calling on the Culture Ministry to cut bureaucracy and help end government control over this field, IRNA reported.
According to the report, most Iranian cinemas are in poor conditions as they were built 30 years ago and this has led to a significant decline in the number of viewers.
Culture Ministry officials have been urged to make better and more relevant policies for boosting the quality of film productions, building cinemas and facilitating the presence of Iranian producers in national and international film competitions and festivals.
Majlis Research Center has proposed that cinema rules should be revised and become compatible with the people’s needs.
“It seems that the government should review its subsidies to cinemas and pay more attention to attracting viewers,“ the report said.
The government was also advised to delegate the management of state-run cinemas to the private sector, as most owners are not qualified.

Solidarity Can Help Defeat Enemy Plots
AMLASH, Gilan,
July 9--State Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani called for national solidarity to foil the enemies’ plots.
He said in his address to a congress to commemorate Martyr Mohammad Mehdi Rabbani-Amlashi on Sunday the enemies of Iran have been repeatedly defeated in their attempt to undermine the nation and acknowledged their failure in the face of Iranian strength, IRNA reported.
“At this critical juncture when the foes speak about economic sanctions, we should preserve unity,“ he said.
The SEC chairman hailed the contribution of martyrs both before and after the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said, “We should continue on the path of religious figure Rabbani-Amlashi by safeguarding the values of Islamic system.“
Rafsanjani called on people of northern Iran to upgrade the tea industry to be able to compete with African and Sri Lankan tea producers.
The IRNA reporter said a message from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was read out at the beginning of the congress.

Duties
AFTAB-E YAZD: The Islamic Republic is pursuing policies to meet people’s demands. Many Iranian officials acknowledge that they have a long way to go for meeting all the people’s basic demands. Now the most successful communities attribute their success to citizens who assume most responsibilities and to the fact that the government and the people fulfill their duties efficiently. However, it seems that the Iranian government is handling responsibilities that should primarily be handled by the people. There are also many examples of the government not granting people’s rights, as many live below the poverty level, suffer from unemployment and complain of high prices.
Good News
DONYA-YE EQTESAD: A rise in oil prices in the international markets is good news for the Iranian economy. Because of changes in the structure of the global economic system, some parameters that can entail both positive and negative impacts on the economy have once again become important. For instance, the global economy is moving toward an open market instead of a state-run and controlled system. Increased international trade is among a series of developments expected. But since oil is a prerequisite for all industrial activities, industrialized nations are still highly dependent on oil, which continues to play a crucial role in the global economy.
Media War
JAAM-E JAM: Media play an important role in waging a psychological war on behalf of the world powers. Committees, for instance, are functioning in different US institutions such as the Central Intelligence Agency, Department of State and Pentagon for launching the psychological war against Iran. A sharp rise in the budget allocated for these committees implies that this psychological war means a great deal to the US. The fact that the US Congress has allocated $70 million for US-backed radio and television programs against the Islamic Republic indicates the importance of this issue. The main strategies pursued by the US in its psychological media war against Iran are to highlight negative news about the country, manipulate public opinion and mix false news with true ones.
