40 Artists’ Works In Portugal
An exhibition featuring the works of illustrators of children’s books is underway in Lisbon’s Water Museum.
The event, which has on display 120 tableaux by 40 artists, was inaugurated on Thursday in a ceremony attended by a number of officials and fans of Iranian culture, IRNA reported.
Speaking at the event, Margarida Ruas, director of the museum expressed gratitude to the Iranian Embassy in Lisbon for collaborating in holding the event. “The exhibit provides an opportunity for the Portuguese to become familiar with Iranian art which combines tradition and modernity,“ she said.
Eduardo Philip, an official with the museum referred to the valuable works on display at the event and said, “These works feature the creative soul of the Iranian artist.“
At the same gathering, Iranian cultural attachŽ in Portugal also referred to the exhibition’s coincidence with the fifth centenary of Iran-Portugal ties and said that the works portray a beautiful image of children’s world.
Referring to the 19th anniversary of the demise of the father of Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini, the official said that Imam’s thoughts prepared the ground for the evolution of Iranian art and culture which gained prosperity following the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The event, which will run until July 5, is a sequel to a well-received exhibition ’1001 Nights’ held earlier by Iranian illustrators in Portugal.
