Iranian Nation’s Slogans Being Heard Regionwide

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the slogans of the Iranian nation have spread all over the region and countries that sided with the hegemonic powers are now beside the Iranian nation.
The leader made the statement on Wednesday in an address to commanders and personnel of the Air Force who met with him on the occasion of the Air Force Day, IRNA reported.
He regarded the Islamic Awakening Movement as proof of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s rightfulness and said, “We are not saying that the Iranian nation has created the recent developments in the region. However, ignoring the influence of the great Iranian nation’s awakening on the Islamic Awakening in the region is not logical, either.”
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to negligence and lack of movement in sync with time as the main reasons behind the backwardness of the Islamic countries and said the opposite of negligence is awakening which brings about movement.
He further said the materialistic civilization of the West has failed to bring about real prosperity and happiness for humanity. “Not only it has failed to provide justice, general welfare and security, but the institution of family and raising the future generations have also faced serious problems.”
The leader also pointed to the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory and millions of Iranians will attend rallies to mark the occasion on February 11 and to show the continuing movement of the revolution.

UN Promoting Carbon Tax

Governments must craft a global pact that promotes a carbon tax and prices goods based on ecological costs, politicians and UN panelists urged.
Former Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey said the planet is living beyond its means and needs a sustainable economy that better manages natural resources for its 7 billion inhabitants, while promoting human rights, equality and an end to poverty, AP reported.
A UN panel is calling “for a redesign of the global economy for a healthy environment and for social wellbeing”, she told several hundred diplomats at the UN’s European headquarters.
“It makes the alarming point that we have already exceeded Earth’s capacity to support ourselves and offers a vision for meeting these challenges.”
She said a sustainable economy should include incentives that “would include in particular a carbon tax, reforms to national fiscal systems that favor sound ecology, payments for services rendered by ecosystems and the application of criteria on sustainability in the awarding of public contracts”.
A report from the panel lays out a framework for revamping the global economy and is aimed at influencing June’s UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro.

Argentina to Complain to UN Over Malvinas Islands

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez said on Tuesday that Argentina will formally complain to the UN Security Council that Britain has created a serious security risk by sending one of its most modern warships to the disputed Falkland Islands.
She accused British Prime Minister David Cameron of militarizing their nations’ dispute over sovereignty of the South Atlantic archipelago, which Argentines say the British stole from them nearly 180 years ago, AP reported.
Argentines are united in their desire to win back the islands they call the Malvinas through diplomacy and negotiation, she said, urging Cameron to “give peace a chance.”
“We have suffered too much violence already to be attracted to military games and wars,” Fernandez said in a nationally broadcast address. “No land should end up being a trophy of war.”
She also criticized Prince William’s posting as a military search-and-rescue pilot in the islands, called Las Malvinas in Spanish: “We would have liked to see him dressed as a civilian, not with a military uniform,” she said.

About 33 years ago, the Iranian nation revolted against the shah. No one was able to believe that those barehanded masses could put an end to the rule of king of kings. A king supported by all powers in the world.
A king equipped with one of the strongest armies in the world. A king backed by the most sophisticated international intelligence services. All crumbled like a dream. The belief of the people in their God and Imam was their only weapon.
After the Islamic Revolution, the newly-established state faced hundreds of plots but the unity of masses and their leadership made them taste the sweetness of victory.
In the face of new conspiracies, they gained more experience and became stronger. Even the war imposed on the Iranian nation which was supported by all superpowers could not break their unity and those who attacked Iran vanished whereas the Iranians are still standing.
Every year the Iranian people gather to support their leadership and demonstrate unity. For sure this year they will once again show their loyalty. They will thus prove to the world that they are all still behind their leadership and will face any threat whatsoever.
History has always proved that the Iranian nation bravely defends its beliefs.
