Poetry event to pay tribute to Imam Khomeini

The Eighth International Literary Festival 'Yar-o-Yadegar' (In Commemoration of the Friend) will be held in Tehran.

The event is organized jointly by the Cultural and Art Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and the Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini Works.

In a statement, the secretariat of the festival pointed to the superior and impressive language of poetry and said it is considered as an ideal dive into deep ocean of thought and emotions, IRNA reported.

The literary festival, named after the late founder of the Islamic Republic, will commemorate Imam Khomeini.

The festival aims to help familiarize the youth with the insightful thoughts of Imam Khomeini to help the young generation — who lived at relatively distant span of time from the great Imam — to spare no efforts to promote the genuine teachings, highly-valued ideals and dynamic thought of the great reviver of Islamic Awakening.

The festival urges the writers with fresh ideas to write and compile works pertaining to the Imam's ideals in a bid to elucidate and promote Imam's genuine ideas and notions.

Various poetic types and fields as well as local languages and accents such as Azeri, Lurish, Kurdish, Arabic and the works of non-Iranian poets will be presented in the event.
