Top Fajr ensembles to perform abroad

Top music ensembles of the 30th Fajr International Music Festival will be sent overseas in the year to start March 21, 2015.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 11th Fajr International Music Festival in Shiraz, Fars province, Deputy Culture Minister Ali Moradkhani said the decision was made in line with the government's policy to exercise cultural diplomacy, IRNA reported.

Fars province will be a forerunner in this respect, he noted.

"In the past few years, Iranian artists have performed poorly in the field of visual arts resulting in losing foreign markets. The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance is now prioritizing a change in the status quo."

He added Eastern art has captured a major portion of the international markets.

Speaking at the same ceremony, Pirouz Arjmand, the Culture Ministry's director-general for music affairs, said, "We are required to pay serious attention to Iranian musicians to help them further tap their potentials and prosper. Currently, young Iranian musicians are experiencing a historical renaissance."

He added at present, Iranian musicians have improved their abilities technically.

"Even, Iranian women have a significant presence in the field of music and demonstrate an eye-catching progress in this regard."

Arjmand said that during the nine-day event, 13,000 visitors came to see the performances by the music ensembles.
