Indian, Tanzanian festivals to show Persian films

Two Iranian short films, produced by the Youth Cinema Society, will compete in festivals in India and Tanzania.


According to IRNA, the short film 'Red Dream', directed by Shahriar Pourseyedian, will be shown in the competition section of the Seventh International Children's Film Festival India (ICFFI).

'Red Dream' is the story of Mohammad, a little boy who sees the world from his own angle. Norouz (the Iranian New Year) is coming and he has a dream. The cast includes Aydin Safarnejad and Narges Badretalei.

'Red Dream' has bagged several international accolades; chosen at the 7th Annual Iranian Film Festival — San Francisco, a Diploma for humanism from Ukraine's international children's television festival as well as Albania's International Film Festival for Children and Youth Audience, 'AniFestROZAFA'.

The ICFFI, also popularly known as 'The Golden Elephant', is a biennial festival that strives to bring the most delightful and imaginative national and international children's cinema to young audiences in India. It is scheduled for April 7-15.

'Aghi' is the other Iranian movie to compete in the 18th Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) in Tanzania. Directed by Yousef Karegar, the film will contend with productions from France, the US, Spain, Kenya, South Africa, China, Japan and Brazil.

ZIFF is East Africa's largest film, music and arts festival, bringing new talents together from all over the world. It is to be held from July 18-26.
