Iran produces novel electric pollinator

Researchers at the Date Palm and Tropical Fruits Research Institute of Iran have developed a new electric pollinator for date palms.

The pollinating wands of the current electric pollinators get blocked by pollen and they are also very heavy.

The new device was ergonomically designed that make it easy to use and is lighter than common pollinators and offers gardening enthusiasts a more affordable option.

It also eliminates the need for physical presence of workers at the top of the tree.

The pollen goes everywhere and the results are excellent.

Electric pollinators are designed to improve the crop yield for commercial and hydroponic growers as well as home gardeners.

Established in 1993, the institute is affiliated to Agricultural Research and Education Organization (AREO) of Agriculture Ministry.

Conducting multi-disciplinary research projects on date palm and some tropical fruits such as mango, banana, papaya, guava, sapodilla, etc. in different agro-climatic zones of the country is the institute’s main objective.

The head office of the institute is located in Ahvaz in southwest Iran. It includes five research departments and one technical services department.
