Head of Persian Language Research Center at India's Aligarh Muslim University Professor Azarmidokht Safavi, who is fluent in Persian, English, Hindi and Urdu, added that since Sanskrit is the root of Persian and Hindi languages, these two languages are closely linked to each other.
She noted that Persian language was the official language of the Indian subcontinent for over 700 years and its influence was quite distinct in India, IRNA said.
The center also conducts interdisciplinary research, Safavi said, adding Indians who seek to enhance the depth and range of their knowledge of their country's culture and history should turn to Persian sources.
Many Persian manuscripts are maintained at personal and public libraries in India, Safavi said.
