Iran trounces Guatemala  in FINA Development Trophy

Iran took a firm first step at the fifth edition of the FINA World Men's Water Polo Development Trophy trounced Guatemala 20-2 at Tehran's Shahid Shiroudi Stadium, Sunday.

Iran will next face Indonesia on Tuesday, Press TV wrote.

Ten teams compete in the six-day event and Iran is in group B of the event along Austria, Tunisia, Indonesia and Guatemala.

Group A features Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Morocco, Malta and Uruguay.

The competition was launched in 2007 with the aim of developing the sport in the world, especially among countries where it is not yet popular.

Kuwait held the first two editions of the event in 2007 and 2009 before once again hosting it in 2013. Saudi Arabia also held the competition once in 2011.
