Miri added that the Iranian produce is a truly organic and grown in traditional way with absolutely no chemical fertilizers. Its strength as a coloring agent also makes it world famous, IRNA reported.
Fluctuation of prices in the market in the past two months will be temporary, he stated. The price of saffron ranges between fifty to seventy million rials per kilogram, the official pointed out.
The United Arab Emirates, Spain and China are major importers of Iranian saffron while Saudi Arabia, India, France, Germany and the UK are on the list of potential importers, he said.
Over nine tons of saffron were exported during March 21-April 20, 2015, registering a growth of 41 percent compared to the figure for the same period in 2014, Miri concluded.
