Entezami House holds Chekhov reading sessions

Chekhov reading sessions began at Entezami House-Museum in Tehran on Saturday.

According to IRNA, stories and plays by the renowned Russian playwright Anton Pavlovich Chekhov were recited at the event organized by Mardom theater troupe under Dariush Moaddabian.

The sessions will run on Saturdays until October.

Russian physician, playwright and author, Chekhov, is considered among the greatest writers of short stories in history.

His career as a playwright produced four classics and his best short stories are held in high esteem by writers and critics. Chekhov practiced as a medical doctor throughout most of his literary career.

Along with Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg, Chekhov is often referred to as one of the three seminal figures in the birth of early modernism in the theater.

Entezami House-Museum is named after leading Iranian actor Ezzatollah Entezami. The museum has been designed for displaying collections of theatrical documents, posters and photos, while the house's courtyard can host open exhibitions.
