Austrian musician to perform recital in Iran

Austrian pianist Gottlieb Wallisch will perform a piano recital at Vahdat Hall in Tehran on September 28.

He is to perform pieces from Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert, ISNA reported.

Born in1978 in Vienna into a family of musicians, Wallisch received his first piano lessons from his mother at the age of four.

At the age of six and half, he began his studies at the Vienna University of Music and Drama. He studied with Heinz Medjimorec and graduated with honors from the university.

Wallisch received further important artistic influence from Oleg Maisenberg, Dmitrij Bashkirov and participated in master classes given by Stephen Kovacevich.

At the age of 16, the young pianist won the first prize in the prestigious international piano competition 'The Stravinsky Awards' (the US).

He became a finalist of the1999 'Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition' in Brussels and at the XXI Concours Clara Haskil in Vevey, Switzerland in 2005.
