Intelligence minister: Several acts of sabotage foiled

Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi said that his ministry has defused several acts of sabotage planned by enemies' intelligence services.

Speaking at the 18th meeting of Assembly of Experts, he said that the Intelligence Ministry has deterred enemies' plots for making unrest and explosions in various parts of the country, IRNA reported.

Many of the enemy elements were arrested or killed in Intelligence Ministry operations, the official noted.

He said that the Intelligence Ministry has done its best to prevent Takfiri terrorist groups or enemy intelligence services to penetrate into Iran or recruit Iranian citizens for sabotage and spying operations.

The 18th meeting of Assembly of Experts started its deliberations here on Tuesday.

The meeting would continue until Wednesday evening.

Saudi Arabia launched its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 – without a UN mandate – in a bid to undermine Yemen’s Houthi movement and restore power to the country’s fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

The World Health Organization says over 4,300 people have been killed in the Yemeni conflict. Local Yemeni sources, however, say the fatality figure is much higher.
