Iran wins world kickboxing title

Iran lifted the 2015 kickboxing world title in Spain, claiming 14 medals including nine golds.

In juniors’ category, Iranian Amir Hossein Akbari was beaten by his German opponent in the final. Omid Tayyebi in the 60kg and Amir Hossein Sartipi in the open claimed two gold medals for Iran.

In women’s light contact class, Saeideh Fard-Sanei in the 55kg and Somayeh Qamari in the +65kg added two silvers to Iran’s tally. Iran junior team had gained a bronze in the international meet.

In the low kick category, Ahmad Nik-Kar (60kg), Hossein Hosseinzadeh (65kg), Hossein Hayati (70kg), Sohrab Bahrami (80kg), Sina Karimian (-90kg) and Jafar Ahmadi (+90kg) pocketed gold medals. Mojtaba Hosseini also gained the silver.

Germany stood runner-up and Britain and the host, Spain, finished third jointly.
