General Soleimani praises Roknabadi

Commander of Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Qassem Soleimani praised Ghazanfar Roknabadi, the former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, who lost his life in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

“The martyrdom of Mr. Roknabadi in Mina and after prayers in Arafat and the land of revelation was a glorious departure for him. He interpreted a new concept of diplomacy by real jihad for God’s sake,” Soleimani said in an interview with Alwaght news website in Tehran.

Soleimani also dismissed reports that he was injured while fighting against terrorists in Syria.

The comments came after reports that the top general has been injured near the city of Aleppo in Syria.

Iran dismisses links to suspects in Kenya

Iran on Monday dismissed as baseless reports about its links with two Kenyans arrested on suspicion of planning attacks in the African state.

The denial came after Kenya’s Interior Ministry said that security forces have arrested the suspects with links to Iran, saying they have admitted to “conspiring to mount terror attacks against Western targets”.

According to IRNA, Iran’s Embassy in Nairobi in a statement rejected the claim, calling it “counterproductive”.

It added that Iran is ready to cooperate with Kenyan officials to clarify the issue.

“The Islamic Republic is fully prepared to cooperate with Kenya in the fight against terrorism,” it said.

The organization, however, said that the price of tickets in 87 other domestic air routes will change because of the government’s support.

Reza Ja’farzadeh, the head of public relations office of the organization, said that the decision was made to increase competiveness among Iranian airliners and improve services to passengers.
