Jabbar Salempoor told IRNA on the sidelines of Abadan and Khorramshahr economic activists' workshop that Arvand Free Zone Organization's policy since its inception has been to streamline trade procedure based on economic development and import management.
Arvand Free Zone, he noted, is one of Iran's most important trade and transit gateways in view of the road, rail, sea and air transportation capacity of Shalamcheh border point as well as easy access to Iraq, Persian Gulf littoral states, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Mediterranean countries.
He added that since March 21,2015, almost 22.5 million tons of non-oil products worth $ 760 million were exported from Shalamcheh showing a 7 percent and 5 percent growth in terms of weight and value respectively against the figures for the same period last year.
Arvand Free Zone, with an area of 37,400 hectares, is located in the northwest of the Persian Gulf.
