George Higgs was born on New Year's Day in 1907 when King Edward VII was still on the throne, the Telegraph reported.
He was just seven-years-old when World War I broke out and was only 32 by the time World War II came around.
The dad-of-one, who has two great grandsons who live in America, said: "I don't feel so bad.
"At 109 I didn't expect to feel this good.
"The secret to a long life is not to worry about anything.
"Just get on with it."
