Iran produces gum for reducing stress

Iranian inventor Amir Reza Jalalian has developed gum that reduces stress by using saffron powder.

He explained that the chewing gum is made up of gum base, saffron powder, natural sugar and tropical fruit essences.

"The product has been exported to some European countries, the US and Canada," he said.

Jalalian and his colleagues are developing effervescent tablets from saffron for treating different kinds of diseases.

Saffron has been used, in small doses only, for whooping cough, stomach gas, gastrointestinal colic, jaundice, boosting memory and insomnia. 

It is also used for anemia, enlarged liver, hysteria, depression, neuralgia, lumbago, rheumatism, chronic diarrhea, measles and all skin diseases.
