'Oblivion Season' to open at American festival

'Oblivion Season', directed and produced by Abbas Rafei, will be screened at Queens World Film Festival (QWFF) in New York which is scheduled for March 15-20, at New York Museum of Performing Art.

The film narrates the story of a struggling but strong-spirited woman who, against all prejudices, tries to assert herself against working women and also against the hostility and contempt of the family of her husband, Mehr News Agency wrote.

The movie has won many awards at a number of leading festivals such as New Jersey, New York, Universal, Romania, Melbourne, Kerala, Jaipur, Italy, Asiatica, Buffalo and Herat.

"It is a pleasure for me to see Iranian film selected among 570 films from 50 countries for the festival," said the founder of the festival, Hal Hartley.

It is expected that QWFF will screen between 80 and 100 films. It is important to QWFF that every screening is a worthwhile experience for participating filmmakers and its guests so it will continue many of its signature elements: Dynamic thematic programming, screening events with engaging talk-backs, relevant networking opportunities and maximum access to press. The event will again screen narrative films, documentaries, and it will program both short and feature length films.
