Int’l Monotheistic Religions Conference calls for unity against violence

An international conference on monotheistic religions which was held in the central city of Isfahan on Thursday called on followers of all monotheistic religions to unite against violence and extremism.


The 7th International Monotheistic Religions Conference was attended by Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, Special Aide to President on Ethnic and Religious Minorities Affairs, Ali Yunesi and representatives of followers of monotheistic religions of Islam, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Judaism and Sabi, IRNA reported.

Religious minority representatives from United Arabic Emirates, Armenia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Yemen, Oman, the Congo, the United Kingdom and Australia participated in the event.

The main slogan of the conference was harmony and unanimity in criticizing violence and extremism.

The conference was organized by Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Presidential Office and several other organizations.

Addressing the conference, Jannati said that terrorism and extremism are not compatible with any religion's instructions.

He hailed the coexistence of monotheistic religions in Iran as exemplary.

The minister said that religious minorities as well as other religions' followers defended Iran during the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war.
