Pourataei to be commemorated

The late Iranian folklore vocalist and instrumentalist Gholam Ali Pourataei will be commemorated in Tehran on October 23.

Tribute will be paid to the virtuoso on the traditional Persian instrument 'dotar' in a ceremony to be attended by his family, fans and a number of officials from his hometown Torbat-e Jam, Khorasan Razavi province.

A short film on the artist's activities will be shown at the event at Avicenna Cultural House, IRNA said.

Pourataei performed numerous concerts in Iran and a number of countries and international festivals. He presented Iran's folk music in several nations.

The artist also played roles in several Iranian films directed by Varouj Karim Masihi and Bahram Beizaei presenting his music art in the screen creations.

'Navaei Navaei' is one of his most famous works.

Pourataei, who was suffering from respiratory infection, died on October 6.
