Gov’t prioritizes welfare policies

The Iranian government attaches special importance to welfare and rehabilitation policies, said the cooperatives, labor and social welfare minister

Addressing the closing ceremony of the First National Conference on Social Entrepreneurship, Ali Rabiei added that governments are more likely to use welfare politics as compensation policies, but this is not acceptable for the Prudent and Hope Government.

He noted that balanced development is the major part of welfare policies adopted by the government.

The minister said based on this policy, the entire population should benefit from welfare policies adopted by the government, especially the vulnerable groups of people who lack many privileges due to weak planning.

"Such policies will help the government achieve its development goals," he said.

Rabiei also said studies show per capita welfare facilities in Tehran province are six time higher than those in Sistan-Baluchestan province.

He noted that the number of women breadwinners is increasing rapidly, a small number of which are covered by State Welfare Organization and Imam Khomeini Relief Committee.

“Life expectancy in Tehran, Isfahan and Alborz provinces is seven years higher than that of border provinces,” he said.

"Balanced welfare policies adopted by the government should properly address such issues."

Rabiei said improper planning is the cause of many social disorders, stressing that the current government is making endeavors to reduce inequality.
