APSA 2014 nomination list includes Iranian films

Several Iranian cinematic productions have been nominated for awards in five categories at the 8th edition of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA).

I’m not Angry by Reza Dormishian has received a nomination for the best feature film and the film’s leading actor Navid Mohammadzadeh is nominated for the best actor award. Press TV reported.

Melbourne directed by Nima Javidi is nominated for the best screenplay award. 

Merila Zarei has been named as a nominee for the best actress award for her role in Track 143.

Rakhshan Bani-Etemad is one of the nominees for the best director at this year's festival for the acclaimed drama The Tales.

The nominated films have previously been screened and honored at several international film events.

Award-winning Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi has been selected to preside over the six-member jury panel of the 2014 APSA.

He is a three-time APSA winner including Best Screenplay and the Jury Grand Prize for About Elly in 2009, as well as Best Film for A Separation in 2011.

Asghar Farhadi became a member of the APSA Academy in 2009.

Some 36 screen productions from 21 countries of the region will be competing in this year’s ASPA, which will be held in Australia on December 11 at Brisbane’s City Hall.
