According to IRNA, more than 25 percent of 60 million tons of locally produced cement were sold in the international market last year.
The figure, however, reveals a declining trend from the figure for 2014 when Iran ranked fourth among cement and clinker producers in the world with an output of 70 million tons.
Iran's cement output has in the past decade witnessed fluctuations, soaring at times and spiraling downward at others.
The country seeks to increase cement production from the current nominal capacity to 120 million tons within the next 10 years.
China leads global producers with roughly 55 percent share of the world's cement output of around four billion tons.
Iran exports cement to some two dozen countries including Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the UAE, Georgia, Oman, India and China.
