Iran's mystical literature scholar Elahi Qomshei dies

Renowned Iranian literary figure, poet and foremost mystical literature scholar Mahdieh Elahi Qomshei died at the age of 79 on July 9 due to respiratory problems and lung infection.

She was born on 1937 and was an expert on the works by the great Persian poet Molana. She studied and analyzed Molana's 'Mathnavi' and compared it with Qur'anic subjects. She memorized many of the poems in the book, ISNA wrote.

Her father Mehdi Elahi Qomshei taught her poetry and literature. She created her first poem at the age of 9.

Jalal Homaei, Sadrodin Mahallati, Sadeq Rezazadeh Shafiq and Mohammad-Taqi Ja’fari are among her masters.

Culture Minister Ali Jannati sent a message condoling the loss of the great poet.
