10 Iranian artworks will be showcased in Shanghai festival

Artworks by 10 Iranian photographers will take part in the 14th Shanghai International Photography Festival.

The cultural institute 'Tahrir, Fantasy's Workshop' submitted almost 100 photographes for sections on Iranian art, culture, traditions and architecture of which 10 have been shortlisted for the final competition, Mehr News Agency wrote.

Works by Homayoun Amir-Yeganeh, Darioush Mohammadkhani, Mehdi Masoumi-Gorji, Is'haq Aqaei, Marzieh Ayoutin, Mahnaz Shafiei, Hojjat Tarsaddi, Hossein Mazaheri and Nastaran Fallah are among the Iranian entries at the event.

The festival is scheduled to take place from September 19 to 25.

Shanghai International Photography Festival founded in 1986 is developed from 'Shanghai International Photographic Art Exhibition'. It is approved by the State Department, Ministry of Culture, and Shanghai Municipal Peoples Government. It is organized by The Shanghai Federation of Art and Literary Circles and The Shanghai Photographers Association. Nowadays, Shanghai International Photography Festival is one of the most authoritative competitions in the world of photography.

Shanghai International Photography Festival is one of the most important international cultural brands for Shanghai. All the earlier editions of the event were highly considered by the leaders of municipal party committee and municipal government. The deputy mayor for cultural affairs of Shanghai serves as the director of the organizing committee.

Different from other photographic exhibition, Shanghai International Photography Festival does not have any exhibition driven with commercial objectives. The festival seeks to maintain the originality of art and exploit the potentials on the international arena provided by Shanghai.
