'Oblivion Season' grabs two North American awards

Highly-acclaimed Iranian film 'Oblivion Season', directed by Abbas Rafei, managed to win awards at two international film festivals in Canada and the US state of California.

The flick won the Best Film Award at the 16th Nickel Independent Film Festival held from June 14 to 18, 2016, in Canada, and the 7th International Film Festival of Independent Filmmakers in California, the US, ISNA reported.

The movie juxtaposes the story of a struggling, but strong-spirited, young woman who, against all prejudices, tries to assert herself against other working women and also against the hostility and contempt of the family of her husband.

The cast includes Sareh Bayat, Amin Zendegani, Shahin Taslimi, Jila Alershad, Fariba Ahang and Mehdi Mohtashemi.

The movie has been screened in 69 international film festivals and won 36 awards and titles including the Best Film Award at Brasov International Film Festival (BRIFF), Best Feature Narrative Award at Buffalo International Film Festival (BIFF) and Best Film Award at the Third Annual Rahway International Film Festival in northeastern New Jersey, the US, in early September.
