Iran’s Hamed Amiri clinched silver at the men’s F55 shot put at the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange, also known as Nilton Santos Stadium, on day nine of Rio 2016 Paralympics.

Amiri snatched the medal with a throw of 11, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Bulgaria’s Ruzhdi Ruzhdi was awarded the gold medal with 12.33 meters; while, Lech Stoltman from Poland threw 11.39 meters to grab the bronze medal of the meet.

Iran has participated at the Games with 111 athletes in 12 sports.

The Iranian delegation finished in the 11th place in the previous edition, winning 10 golds, seven silvers and seven bronzes.
