The flick was awarded the Special Jury Award of the main awards at the US 19th Full Frame Documentary Film Festival which took place from April 7-10, Special Mention for the human rights at the 15th DokuFest in Kosovo, the Cineuropa Audience Award at the 12th FEST – New Directors New Films Festival held in the Portuguese city of Espinho from June 20 to 27 and the Amnesty International Film Prize at the 66th Berlinale and True Vision Award at the True/False Film Festival in the US.
The Russian festival was first held from January 25 to 31, 1989. The event is attended annually by more than 1,000 participants and 273 accredited journalists. Its international film market is organized concurrently. Since 1994, it has been held annually and the competition section has been added to the festival.
The festival prioritizes films in which humanistic idea are expressed in truly cinematic language.
