Iran invited as guest of honor at Int'l Belgrade Book Fair

Iran will attend the 61st International Belgrade Book Fair as the guest of honor for 2016 so as to introduce rich Iranian culture and literature to a broad spectrum of the visitors.

The 2016 edition is scheduled for October 23 to 30 in Belgrade, Serbia, reported ISNA.

Iran, whose pavilion will be located prominently in the Arena of Hall No.1, will present its culture by holding book and author promotions, lectures and seminars both at the exhibition stand and in the conference halls.

Iran will also take this opportunity to present its most prominent authors, translators, publishers, distributors, and all others associated with literature.

Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, with a wide range of cultural and artistic activities in the field of psychological and cultural development for children and young adults, will have its own pavilion in which it will present 130 titles including novels, picture books, teen plays, and catalogue of novels and illustrated books published in 2016.

This year's fair will be attended by publishers from a large number of countries including Iran, Russia, Australia, UK, Italy, Greece, India, France, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Romania and Poland. They will present over 150,000 book titles.

Earlier Guests of Honor at Belgrade Book Fair were Norway (2002), Canada (2003), France (2004), the UK (2005), USA (2006), Italy (2007), Japan (2008), Greece (2009), Sweden (2010), Portugal (2011), Hungary (2012), Poland (2013), China (2015) and Russian Federation (2015).

The International Belgrade Book Fair is one of the oldest and the most important literary events in the region, whose main goal is to help publishers, authors, booksellers, librarians, book distributors, multimedia companies and others involved in the business to establish contacts, exchange experiences, make business deals, and start other forms of business and cultural cooperation. All Serbian and the most prominent regional publishers choose to present their annual publishing work each year at the fair.
