4 students injured in shooting outside San Francisco school

Four people were wounded, one critically, in a shooting that erupted at the parking lot of a high school in San Francisco, California, around the time students were being dismissed.

Police and school officials said Tuesday that one of the victims, a teenage girl, was critically wounded after the shooting near the June Jordan School for Equity around 3:20 pm local time.

Three teenage boys suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The San Francisco Unified School District said the shooting was "an isolated incident outside of the school building where one student was being targeted by outsiders."

School officials said the female victim was specifically targeted and the three others were bystanders.

Four male suspects, all wearing dark jeans and hooded sweatshirts, remain at large and investigators are searching for them, according to police.

Police are investigating a shooting at the Jordan School for Equity in San Francisco, California, that left four students injured.

Murders and other violent crimes in US cities rose sharply in 2015 compared to a year earlier, according to an annual report released last month by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), fueling concerns that the nation’s more-than two-decade trend of falling crime rates may be ending.

Preliminary figures released by the FBI in January had already indicated an increase in violent crime in American cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles and Baltimore.
