Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with Swiss Deputy Foreign Minister Yves Rossier in Tehran on Wednesday.
In the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on expansion of bilateral and regional cooperation.
European countries such as Switzerland that are eager to play a role in resolving regional disputes and help restore peace and stability in the region will have the option to play their role, Velayati said.
Those who created terrorists and extremist groups and their supporters seek to deal a blow to some legal governments in the region to attain their sinister goals, he said.
The danger of such groups will not be limited to the region and are occasionally in Europe or in other parts of the world we are witnessing occurrence of such terrorist moves and it will be among duties of the world countries to seriously deal with the issue, Velayati said.
Visiting Swiss deputy foreign minister, for his part expressed satisfaction with his visit to Iran and said his country is willing to broaden cooperation with Iran.
The role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in resolving regional issues is very significant, he said and expressed the hope that through much more active contribution of Iran into Syrian and Iraq issues, peace will be restored in the region.
