'The Half' to represent Iran at SLIFF

'The Half' to represent Iran at SLIFF

'The Half', a film by Iranian director Bahman Kamyar, will go on screen at St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) in the US on November 11-12.

In addition to 'The Half', Soheila Golestani's 'Two', is also representing Iran at the SLIFF this year, Mehr News Agency reported.

The event's panel of jury is led by American comedian and actor Jerry Lewis and includes Charles Burnett, Gordon Quinn and Kim Tucci as its members.

'The Half' had earlier taken part in the official section of the 24th Raindance Film Festival in the UK and International Crime and Punishment Film Festival. It tells the story of Azar, a young girl whose mother was killed by her step-father. Now, she is seeking justice.

SLIFF is a regional, internationally themed film event dedicated to exploring cross-cultural understanding through the art of the cinema.

The festival, which is celebrating its 25th edition this year, will run from November 3 to 13.

In addition to screening a variety of local creations, documentaries and Oscar bait, the festival will also give out eight awards over the course of its run honoring Charles Burnett, Jerry Lewis, Gordon Quinn, Kim Tucci, Brian Hohlfeld, Marlon West, Kim All and Kimberly Steward.

SLIFF aims at enhancing cultural diversity by bringing American independent productions, horizon-expanding international films and high-quality studio films to audiences before their commercial release. The festival is organized by Cinema St. Louis — a not-for-profit organization.
