Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi said any progress in Tehran-London relations should guarantee the interests of both sides and should be based on mutual respect.
He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting UK Minister for Middle East and North African Affairs Tobias Ellwood on Thursday, IRNA reported.
Criticizing recent remarks made by some British officials against Iran, Takht-Ravanchi described such stances in contrast with the developing trend of bilateral ties between the two countries.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Takht-Ravanchi urged the British official to follow the full implementation of the commitments promised by all signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and P5+1 group of countries, which included the UK.
The British official reassured the deputy foreign minister that London is after developing bilateral ties with Tehran and is committed to the full implementation of the nuclear agreement. He asserted that his country is making efforts to remove the barriers on the way of expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries.
