Twenty young and active faculty members who have graduated from reputable universities are to receive $33,333 research grant in current Iranian year (started March 21) with the support of the foundation, said the head of Iran National Science Foundation (INSF).
On measures taken by the foundation during the year to March 2017, Nosratollah Zargham further said: "We supported the researchers based on our mission."
Underlining the need for promoting scientific infrastructures, he added the foundation has supported student research centers in the fields of group studies, teaching research method to familiarize students with entrepreneurship, creativity and patent for innovations.
Given the importance of mathematics, he said, a memorandum of understanding was signed with Mathematics House to support mathematicians.
INSF joined Global Research Council in 2016 and became a member of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), he pointed out.
He continued that INSF plans to conduct joint projects with research foundations in Germany, China, Russia, Japan, Austria and Italy.
Also, it held a workshop pertaining to the Persian Gulf on Kish Island in cooperation with German Research Foundation, he said.
In addition, it held three joint workshops with IIASA to conduct joint research projects in energy and environment as well as water, he added.
