Analyst: Iran's economic growth hits record high

Iran's economic growth registered an 11.6-percent growth in the nine months from March 20, 2016 to December 20, 2016 indicating over eight percent growth year-on-year to stand on top of the list of world economic powers in terms of annual economic growth, said economic analyst and lecturer at Shahid Beheshti University Saeed Leilaz on Wednesday.

Speaking to IRNA, he described the performance of President Hassan Rouhani's economic team as positive, rejecting negative points targeting the government.

Propaganda campaign is not something new and after the 11th government took office, the right wing (moderate) focused on it and that is only because of the good performance of President Rouhani's government, he said.

In economy, indicators of economic growth are considered the main criterion in assessment, he pointed out.

President Rouhani said that the most significant aspect of his administration is the revival of Iran's economic growth which started from minus seven and exceeded eight percent in the year to March 20, 2017.

Referring to the development of the oil sector in the 11th government, he said these developments were beyond the expectations of domestic and foreign experts such that in less than six months, production of crude oil was revitalized.
