Iran Health Minister Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi said that enjoying the benefits of a good health system, is a national approach for bringing stability in the countries.
Addressing the 70th World Health Assembly in Switzerland city of Geneva on Tuesday, the Iranian minister said, “We are living in an unknown world which is full of man-made and natural threats”, therefore enjoying the benefits of a good health system, is a national approach for bringing stability in the countries,” IRNA reported.
The 70th World Health Assembly (WHA), the main decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), kicked off at the European headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva on Monday.
Representatives of 194 member states are participating in the event.
Iranian minister, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Geneva on Monday morning and held separate meetings with his counterparts from different countries.
During his meetings, Hashemi said Iran is ready to promote cooperation and exchange experiences in the field of healthcare with other countries.
He met health ministers from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Italy, and Britain.
In his meetings with Pakistani and Kazakhstan health ministers, Hashemi emphasized the need for promoting cooperation in the area of healthcare particularly in preventing and fighting against both contagious and non-contagious diseases.
Hashemi also held talks with Sania Nishtar, one of the candidates for the post of Director General of the World Health Assembly.
Nishtar said that the Islamic Republic is one of the role models of healthcare development in the region.
She said that if elected as the new head of WHA, she will draw on Iran’s healthcare expertise.
