Official puts Iran oil inventories at 157bn barrels

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA – Deputy Head of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for Exploration Affairs Bahman Soleimani said on Monday that Iran oil inventories stand at 157 billion barrels and based on estimates the country will have oil for next 60 years and gas for next 200 years.

Soleimani said exploratory operations go on in entire part of Iranian oil and gas fields.

He made clear that explorations mostly focus on the Persian Gulf, the Oman Sea and Zagros.

He said all parts of the country are divided into seven exploration priorities and that the operations are currently excluded to the first to third priorities.

Soleimani said that the volcano-prone areas are given the last priority in the exploratory operations and the possibility of energy reserves in such areas is lower several times with safety risks.
