Iranian illustrator Narges Mohammadi won the golden apple (second prize) award of the 26th Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava (BIB 2017) — the world's biggest children's books illustration awards.
She was presented the award for her illustrations in the book 'I Was a Deer', written by Ahmad-Reza Akbarpour, Mehr News Agency reported.
Mohammadi had earlier won awards at Illustration festivals in South Korea and Portugal, both held in 2009, for her illustrations in the same book.
Some of the other award winners at the BIB 2017 are Ludwig Volbeda (grand prix 2017) from the Netherlands for the book titled 'The Birds', Maki Arai (golden apple) from Japan for the book titled 'Dandelion', Ji-Min Kim (golden apple) from South Korea for the book titled 'Hide and Seek', Ana Desnitskaya (golden apple) from Russia for the book titled 'The Old Russian Home'.
Daniela Olejníková (golden apple) from Slovakia for the book titled 'Verminarium, the Escape', Hanne Bartholin (plaque) from Denmark for the book titled 'A Story About You, a Story About Everything', Mirocomachiko (plaque) from Japan for the book titled 'Beasts Smelling' and Romana Romanyshin and Andryi Lesiv (plaque) from Ukraine for the book titled 'Loudly, Softly, in a Whisper', were the other award winners at BIB 2017.
