Iranian woman appointed first ever no. two at Oil Ministry

A woman was appointed on Sunday as Iran's Petroleum minister first deputy for the first time in the history of the country's oil industry.

According to a decree, Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh appointed Marziyeh Shahdaei as the number two official at his Ministry, IRNA reported.

Earlier, Shahdaei was working as Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and deputy petroleum minister for petrochemical affairs.

Women have been getting more and more involved in social life in Iran after the Islamic Revolution. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has frequently urged his ministers to choose qualified women for top managerial posts in their ministries.
