Iran, Armenia discuss telecom ties

Iran and Armenia discussed cooperation in telecommunication and information technology sectors noting the two countries have great potentials for broadening ties in the field.

In a meeting on Monday, Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan and Iranian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, the Armenian diplomat extended condolences on the loss of lives in the devastating earthquake which hit western Iran late Sunday, reported Armenpress.

Tumanyan proposed the holding a joint business forum in Tehran in 2018 with the participation of Armenian and Iranian IT companies.

The Iranian minister welcomed the proposal and expressed readiness to help organize the forum.

In October, Armenia's Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan visited Tehran at the head of a delegation and was received by Iran's First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri.

During the visit, three memorandums of understanding were signed between the two sides focusing on cooperation in the fields of veterinary medicine and livestock health, exchanges in the area of art and culture, and science and technology.
