Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director General for the Americas Mohammad Keshavarz-Zadeh said on Monday that a delegation from Iran is scheduled to visit Canada after Christmas holidays.

Keshavarz-Zadeh said that both countries have so far held five rounds of negotiations at the expert level, IRNA reported.

He said that last round of talks between Iran and Canada was held in Tehran.

He also underlined that both countries are interested in restoring relations. Ottawa cut the ties in September 2012 due to several reasons, including what it called "continued threats from Iran to Israel".

But new administration has signaled willingness to restore ties and reopen the Canadian Embassy in Tehran.
