Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin plans to make an official visit to Iran in April.
"We are scheduled to visit Iran on April 8-9," Volodin told reporters on Wednesday, TASS reported.
Iran and Russia have increased their relations in recent years, following the conclusion of the 2015 nuclear agreement, which led to the removal of nuclear-related sanctions against Tehran.
Both countries have struck many economic and military agreements in this period.
Tehran and Moscow have also expanded their military cooperation in the region. The cooperation further increased due to the spread of terrorism in the regional countries, Syria in particular.
On Tuesday, the countries’ presidents discussed a range of issues, including economic and military cooperation. They also talked about the situation in the region.
Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Moscow was determined to deepen its ties with Tehran in all fields of mutual interest.
