Iranians grabbed five medals including two golds at the 2018 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup & Asian Championships in Cheongsong, South Korea to claim the top spot in Asia.

On Sunday, Iranians stole the show at the women’s speed competitions as all three medals of the contest went to Iranian girls.

Zeynab Mousavi scooped the gold medal while her compatriots Nasrin Abdolrahmani and Shabnam Asadi collected the silver and bronze, respectively.

In the men’s competitions, Mohsen Beheshti finished first in the speed final to take Iran’s tally to two gold in the competitions. Mongolian climbers claimed the second and third places.

Additionally, Mohammadreza Safdarian won the silver medal in the men’s lead final following the athlete from the host country who won the gold while another South Korean settled for the bronze of the contest.

A total of five medals and 360 points gave Iran a first-place finish in Asia at the end of the tournament with South Korea and Kazakhstan finishing in second and third spots, respectively.

The competition was held on February 9-11.
