Head of Iran’s Department of the Environment (DoE) Isa Kalantari and German Ambassador in Tehran Michael Klor Berchtold, in a Monday meeting, vowed for expansion of bilateral cooperation in environmental areas, Mehr News Agency reported.
The country is facing a lot of environmental problems, especially in the area of water, Kalantari, who is also Iranian Vice President said during the meeting.
He also touched upon the challenge of air pollution in Iranian megacities and metropolises and ascertained that the country welcomes technological interaction in the field of manufacturing environmentally-friendly means of public transportation.
Sharing knowledge and experience in the field of environment was another field Kalantari called for Germans’ support.
Kaveh Madani, another official of the DoE was present at the meeting and proposed to set up an Iran-Germany day of environment.
The German diplomat also welcomed the cooperation idea and voiced his country’s readiness to expand the assistance in this field.
