Trump mistaken about Iran nuclear deal: Russian expert

US President Donald Trump is making a mistake regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), better known as the Iran nuclear deal, said a Russian international affairs expert on Wednesday adding that Trump' rhetoric cannot bully Iran.

“The JCPOA is an international agreement that has been endorsed by the global community through the UN Security Council resolution and the US cannot unilaterally annul it,” Vladimir Sotnikov of the Institute of the World Economy and Foreign Relations and the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) told IRNA.

The talks for the agreement started in 2006 and the agreement was signed in January 2015 between Iran on one side and the five permanent members of the UNSC and Germany on the other side.

“That’s impossible; Iran and G5+1 won't accept it,' he said, 'Trump wants to change the situation.”

“Trump should be courageous and act wisely and not talk to Iran using force; if the US is not happy with the deal, why did the American representatives attended the negotiations?”

He said that Trump's actions against the JCPOA are illogical stressing that without the JCPOA the stability in the Middle East won't last.

“Trump's stance toward the deal is so destructive,” said Sotnikov that even the US politicians caution about its negative implications.
