Foreign leaders offer condolences over Iran plane crash

Russian and Azerbaijani presidents, in a separate messages, extended their condolences to their Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, over the crash of an Iranian passenger plane.

The Kremlin press service cited Vladimir Putin as saying that, "The president emphasized that Russia grieves together with those who lost families and friends in the tragedy and wished them courage and strength in this dark hour," Xinhua reported.

An Iranian passenger plane crashed into the Mount Dena in central Iran's Isfahan Province on Sunday morning, killing all the 66 people on board, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran confirmed.

President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev also, in a message on Sunday, extended his condolences to Rouhani on the occasion of the tragic plane crash, IRNA wrote.

The sad incident of passenger plane crash in Iran and death of its all passengers and crew members was so sorrowful, he wrote.

Aliyev expressed sympathy with the victims' families and condoled with the Iranian nation. He wished patience for the bereaved families.

The plane was flying from Tehran to Yasouj, capital of Kohgiloyeh and Boyer Ahmad Province.
